   Since my replacement Intellichlor chlorine generator died after only a few years I didn't want another one but was getting desperate trying to keep the pool algae free so I thought I'd try one of these solar ion generators. I began to see results after a few days and by a week, after brushing the remaining algae off the sides and cleaning the DE filter, my pool was algae free. For maintenance I just use a floater with a few tabs to keep the chlorine level in the proper range. Amazing.

   We live in Arizona and have a problem pool, for 12 years we have been battling constant algae due to a neighbors tree and the amount of sun our pool gets. We read another review from a fellow Arizonan and how this product worked for his pool. So we ordered it bc we basically spend that amount of money on chlorine and shock in 6 weeks, so it was worth a try. WOW!!!! We are only one week in, no algae, and we haven’t added any shock or extra liquid chlorine. We would usually have needed at least 2 bags of shock on top of a floater full of chlorine, and we would still get algae. If you have a problem pool, do not hesitate, just order this miracle worker of a product!!!

   While in the planning stages for a new inground pool, and researching chemical maintenance options, I came across the Sun Shock Purifier device. So glad I did! Since the pool went into service about 6 weeks ago, the Sun Shock has been performing perfectly - the water stays crystal clear and I've only needed to add a bit of chlorine on cloudy days or when the pool has had a lot of swimmers (my pool is only about 5,000 gallons, and gets at least 6 hours of sun during the day). I was grateful that the Remington Solar website, as well as numerous reviewers, noted the importance of using non-stabilized chlorine during the new pool start-up process. The pool service contracted to handle start-up had never heard of the Sun Shock, and were wary of using only household bleach, but it all worked out perfectly. I clean the copper rod once a week and it's super simple to do (wear latex gloves or your fingers will smell like metal). Also, the Sun Shock will easily wander to the skimmer slot, so I've tethered it to keep it in place (see photo). Whoever thought up the Sun Shock is a genius - I love it.

   I live in Cave Creek AZ and we have very hard water. I've had this gadget now for a year and it has pulled out a lot of the calcium and minerals from the water, giving my pool a clear look. The biggest difference is the tile at the rim of the pool does not collect mineral deposits like it used to. This took about 4 months to get to that point. I just had to replace the copper rod after one year. The only negative is when you first get it, you are cleaning it once a week. I now clean it about every three weeks.

   I didn't even know this existed until I was ordering some shock and saw copper anodes being sold and looked up what they were and what they belonged to. I discovered the Remington Solar Shock Ionizer and was intrigued by everything I read. We had been battling algae, especially dreaded black algae and I was willing to try anything. We've had the ionizer in the pool for two weeks and what a difference it has made. No algae at all, even the small black algae spots I was always scrubbing are gone... GONE! If you've ever dealt with black algae it's tenacious, it requires constant maintenance and scrubbing, and it's unsightly (and dangerous, as it's actually a toxic bacteria and not a true algae). Our pool water is crystal clear and we haven't needed to add any chemicals aside from muriatic acid because the ionizer does need optimal pH levels to function. Cleaning the anode is very easy and can be messy (wear gloves), but it's not difficult. Overall I believe this was a great purchase and good investment, we will save a lot of money on pool chemicals. As long as the sun is hitting your solar shock ionizer (it must have it to work), it will do its job. I even feel better about my dogs drinking the pool water because it's not laden with chemicals anymore.

   We live in southwest Florida near the gulf of Mexico and have had a black algae problem for 9-10 months that wouldn't completely die with daily brushing and algaecide and shocking the water. After placing this in our pool over the last 3 weeks our pool is black algae free and sparkling clean with minimal chemicals in our salt water pool. We are first time pool owners and we were seriously skeptical that it wouldn't kill the black algae. We even kept the box because we were sure we'd be returning it! Boy were we wrong...It really works and we're very happy with it. The ease of cleaning the adenode and basket every 5-7days is very simple and may take 10-15 min. It's advisable to check your water chemistry every day. We have a lot of Iron in our water here and this thing attracts iron and can cause staining on your plaster if 1. You forget to clean the basket out (guilty!) and 2. the chlorine levels are too high (we shock on Sun eve and take it out for 24-48 hrs until chlorine levels come down) Other than that, it's the best invention ever and has made my son extremely happy that he only has to brush the pool 1x a week instead of everyday. Lol

   This thing works!!! I've had this 'thing' in our pool for about ten days. I've been checking the water quality almost every day. The preferred settings remain constant. Before this 'thing', our water was always cloudy and the bottom of the pool was difficult to see (our pool is six feet deep). Now our pool water is so clear that it looks like there is no water in it. I have cleaned the 'copper rods' three times so far, which takes maybe five minutes from start to finish. It comes with a small wire brush for cleaning the copper rods but, I have been using a common hand-held wire brush and I find that easier and much more thorough than the small brush that's included.

   I love that I don't have to add expensive chemicals to my pool anymore. This thing keeps my water super clean and clear. I have a 52" tall above ground pool that is 15' wide and it serves it very well (just under 6k gallons) and on a sand filter. I do have to vacuum regularly still to keep the debris out and from building up, but I am not having any algae growth or cloudy water issues. I love not having to expose our skin to all the chemicals I was having to use before as well. This really seemed too good to be true and I had it in my cart for a while before I pulled the trigger, but it is well worth it. You do need to clean it regularly and take care of it according to the directions if you want it to work. It seems like most of the compliant reviews are by people who thought they could set it and forget it, which isn't the case, it needs maintenance but the chemicals are much higher maintenance than this device.

   I’m a skeptic about ‘miraculous’ products for the pool. This one really has been life-changing and I don’t say that lightly. This is the second season we have been in this house in Ohio. Last year I spent countless hours and dollars trying to keep green and brown algae at bay. I constantly swept the bottom, poured in bottles of algaecide, and added chlorine. Nothing helped, after a few days the green was back regardless of what I did. I heard about this type of system from a friend and did some research then decided it was worth a try. I’m so glad I took the plunge. I keep three or four tablets in the floater and that’s it for chemicals. Gone are the days of constant brushing and vacuuming of the bottom, adding gallons and packets of shock, and cursing the algae. It’s just not there this year. I even went away for 10 days without even having the filter running and came back to clear water. I wish I had learned about this a year earlier.

   No truer words ever printed! That's what the book says! And it's absolutely true. Put the three easily assembled parts together, and I literally tossed my Remington Sun Shock Ionizer into the pool! My very first pool I've ever owned and had responsibility for it's maintenance and upkeep.....ah, guys...isn't it supposed to be more labor intensive? I love the crystal clear water and the not-so-much-to-do maintenance...launched it a week ago and today, a quick brush off on the anode and a couple minutes later, back into the pool to quietly do it's thing. Found out about the ionizer just before pulling the trigger on a saltwater system....a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the muss and fuss.
