I purchased this sharpener replacing the hand held sharpening stone that came with my Chicago Cutlery set. It has a two step process and is easily used. It handles all sizes of standard knives easily. Step one involves pulling the knife through two slots until a tiny ridge is felt along the blade. When you can feel the ridge you shut off the motor and draw the knife through the final slot (a few times). This refines the newly sharpened blade where it is ready for use. My knives remain sharper for a longer period of time then they did when I sharpen them by hand with the honing tool that came with the set. It is designed to sharpen both serrated and non-serrated blades. This was another big plus in that many of my knives are serrated and were difficult to sharpen. The chefs choice hybrid makes the job simple. Sharper or is easily used and does a great job. Playing very please with this purchase and can recommend it if you are looking for a product in this price range. It works really well for me.
