I had neglected my knives for more years than I care to admit and this tool was able to take out the unsightly nicks and burrs, and once again gave me a clean, sharp edge. The pictures tell the story. It took a solid 20 to 25 minutes of continuous grinding to get from A to B, so it's certainly not grinding large amounts of your blade at a time. The grinding wheel appears to have some sort of internal spring mechanism to apply just the right amount of pressure with each pass. I'm quite happy to have factory sharp knives again.
