   This is an excellent outdoor bug zapper. I like it because the light itself is bright, heightened by the contour of the perforated grid surrounding the lamp, which creates a shimmering light pattern, making it pleasant for me to look at as well as protect me from those pesky misquitoes! Outdoor means waterproof, so it can be hung on a tree and left there, though you do have to consider how to waterproof your extension cord connection. That said, it can be used indoors as well. though you probably won't get the shimmering light effect.

Went through some of the reviews before purchasing, indeed it’s powerful and lightweight to be hung on the ceiling. Kept hearing things being electrified when it’s on makes us feel safer and peace of mind knowing less bugs would come inside. I outsourced all that to this baby! it wasnt but 10 seconds after I plugged it in did I start hearing the sweet snap crackle and popping sounds of their demise! I've left it on for the last couple weeks and I haven't seen a mosquito, and trust me I looked! I even tried blood sacrifice! no dice. Although there was a distinct increase in crackles coming from this Death Lantern. I'm waiting to to be arrested committing mosquito genocide...

On the front porch, tiny bugs would swarm the porch light by the door making it difficult to get in the house without a swarm of bugs getting inside and swarming around the living room light inside. Put this bug zapper by the front porch light and it was a massacre. All I heard for two nights was the constant sound of zap and pop as the zapper did its magic. By the third night, the pops and zaps were less in frequency and by the fourth, was few in between as the zapper vanquished our foes.

This thing zaps things that I didn't even know were in the area. At dusk, mosquitoes come in a cloud attracted by the light. They expect a bounty but receive a fatal zap. Effective and inexpensive! It appears as though this zapper is one of those things made by the gillion with more brands slapped on them than you can count. Great value! Buy the 15 W rater than the 9 Watt. The $ diff is negligeable and you will get a larger coverage area.

   As I kid I remember at campgrounds and stuff those monster sized electric bug zappers and that crackling sound of disappearing annoyances. Never figured I would be doing something similar in my back yard. This baby cooks, bugs that is, all night long zip zap and sometimes a big bug will literally go up in smoke. So what should you know, do not put it right where you want to be not pestered by as many bugs. They suggest 25 feet away on a pole or branch. I actually hung this at the back corner of my garage for weather protection and not needing an extension cord, but I am considering moving it. It works very well and I empty the bottom every few days. Watch out for live ones in the bottom when you open it. I also very gently on the lowest speed blow through it with a blower to clean the rails. Every few times it is good to reach in with the little brush. Bottom line, the bugs love this, they will even be attracted to the light glowing on nearby walls so expect bugs to land wherever the light reflects. For the price this was a worthwhile quality of life improvement, time will tell about durability. Oh and don't forget to unplug it (no switch) before moving or cleaning or you may get buzzed yourself.

   I am happy with my bug zapper. I am using it on my deck where I enjoy sitting outside. I plugged it in and almost immediately, it started to work. I was not bothered by flies or other insects. Cleanup was very easy. I just removed the bug tray, rinsed it out and let it dry. I will be purchasing one to keep on my front porch as well.
