I was leery that this tool would work in my clay soil but it has so far! The only "problem" the clay soil has caused is that the button (that dislodges the weed/soil from the prongs) sometimes does not depress. I simply turn the tool over and slam the button on the ground and it spits out the weed/soil. It does take a plug of soil along with the weed, though. I hate to put all those soil plugs into the yard waste container so I'm going to try leaving the pile a few days and then stomping on it to see if that will pulverize the soil plugs so I can leave the soil in my yard and just dispose of the weeds.

We are all so amazed at the big and small weeds it pulls out for us. It is great for the weeds that pop up under our prickly bushes and in the middle of the lawn. It is so easy to use. My six year old loves to feel useful when we go out to do yard work. Unless you enjoy crawling around on your hands and knees and digging at weeds with a pry bar, this product is for you. Cheaper than fiskars, better system, and smaller holes. Put it over weed, stomp on the foot pedal, pull out by the handle and knob, and then pop the top of the knob to release. 5 seconds a weed, if that. Cleared my whole backyard with it while playing with the dog.

I could stand up and weed my flower garden and frankly, it did a better job then I was kneeling down and hand pulling the weeds. I probably wouldn't use this in a location where I have rocks and weed barrier because it would punch holes in the barrier but maybe already hole there? Anyway, very effective tool and I love it. This tool is awesome! I use it for larger, difficult weeds such as crabgrass and dandelions. Its important to center the tool over the root. For big weeds, use your foot to push the tool in deeply to get the roots, but doing so does leave a divot around 3/4 inch wide and an in or two deep. For smaller weeds it is sufficient to push the tool in gently, twist, and pull, leaving a much smaller divot. My first time using it I removed a huge number of weeds quickly, cleanly, and with minimal effort. I'm buying another tool for my daughter! I really like it.
