This allows them to to seal against the tile or material you are working on. I used them to caulk a shower and they worked perfectly. Definitely provided a much cleaner and professional finish. Anything you want to do in regard to caulking is in this kit. I used it in our shower that has glass doors and the walls are ceramic tile so there are a lot of different surfaces. When I've caulked before using my fingers as the finish tool, the outcome has always been a little subpar. Leaves a cleaner surface with little mess to clean up. By angeling the tool a little bit, it will glide past the vertile grout line so the bead doesn't dip into each of the grout lines. Much better than taping too because that leaves a small edge where bacteria can form.
