It allowed for a peaceful transition for both cats. It attaches to the door frame with adhesive hooks (do NOT place it on drywall! Fortunately he doesn't charge fences or gates, so this works wonderfully! Not difficult to mount. The trick is to put the hooks through the loops first, just hold it there and you'll see where it needs to go. I put it up sideways to close up a passthrough. This pet gate worked great for what i needed. I have two large cats who can jump rather high and were jumping over the 41 inch stationary gate w/door we installed. I need a barrier to cover the upper half of the doorway that would allow viewing, air flow and easy access. This product worked out great. We installed it vertically instead of horizontally. We also used Command Strips to install the hooks in case it did not work and easy removal without harm to the paint of the doorway. Also, the mesh gate can easily be unhooked (one or two or all hooks) when the gate is not needed or for access through the doorway. Our cats have not attempted to jump over the stationary gate since the installation of the mesh gate barrier
