My only solution was to dump shock regularly and constantly brush and I mean at least once a day which still didn’t really help. Was considering resurfacing the pool or painting it because of the chronic algae growth. A friend recommended this sun shock device which I initially thought was a total joke - but this thing is amazing. After so many years of struggling to keep my pool clean, I’m finally just enjoying it. I have had the thing for a week and I can already tell it works great. Truly unbelievable product.

Those that say it stained their pool. I clean mine every couple days with the water hose. The pressure cleans the copper right off. No need for brush. More often however it only takes 2 minutes.

   Pop up ads on social media got my attention. On day I'm looking at one when one of the national networks had a segment on the interest of using copper for covid sanitizing which I thought ironic. So I ordered figuring what do I have to lose. To my surprise I have been amazed by the results. I live in Miami and lately we have had weeks of daily downpours which always means constantly adding chlorine. To my surprise I have only added half a jug in the past 3-4 weeks and only to have some sanitizer with a pool tab -down from 2 in the floater. After I purchased I saw that my size pool (35X10) recommendation is for 2 units but 1 has been fine. I haven't had any problems with staining as some have.I am truly pleased and amazed!

As a side note I worked for a pool company for 8 years where I sold and recommended ionizers etc, for the pools. I would have definitely recommended this. We just ordered another one to keep in the spa so we don't have to move it back and forth.

UPDATED REVIEW - BE MINDFUL OF THE COPPER OR OTHER METAL LEVELS, THEY WILL CAUSE STAINING OF THE LINER IF THEY GET TOO HIGH. Included in my box was copper test strips, once we saw the staining start, we immediately pulled the device from the pool and stored solar panel side down. Upped the PH levels and brought it back to a balanced state, we'll put it back in once we start seeing the algae and KEEP an EYE on it THIS time ;)

   Blown away at how effective this is! I've had it in my pool for a week and I've had to drop my chlorine levels to near 0 because nothing is growing! I keep mine tethered to one side of my pool that gets the most sun so it gets about a solid 5-7 hours of direct sunlight per day and the algae growth has completely stopped. Worth every penny for that alone as well as heavily decreasing the amount of chlorine needed for my pool. Would 100% recommend to anyone considering it.

   Been battling green algae all year in the Phoenix area, been a rough summer for some reason, tons of chemicals to no avail. New water didn't help and then one of my co workers bought one of these and said all his algae issues went away. So I purchased one and low and behold clear blue pool in about 3 days with no more chemicals...yay. The kids even were amazed cause their eyes were not burning for the first time this summer. On the first cleaning of the copper anode it was caked with calcium deposits, will have to see what it looks like next week.
