Must have for anyone with fish! Before this, cleaning my tank was such a hassle since I'd carry the tank with me and do 100% water changes. At the time I was unaware this was bad for the until I came across this siphon cleaner! Now cleaning the gravel and partial water changes are much easier because of this and I no longer carry my tank around for cleaning! I use this on my 5 Gallon tank which has coarse gravel in it from my experience the gravel doesn't lift up but it certainly lifts any excess food and gunk caught in between the gravel.

We use this to drain our turtle tank. I love that this pump works without batteries or plugs. I get good suction with it just by following the directions. You do have to submerge it completely. I start with the large end and then feed the hose into the water until I get to the other end. That's the easiest way to push the air out of the tube - which is necessary to get the best suction. After that, just put your thumb over the small end and pull it out of the water. Drop that line into your collection container and let it work. As long as you keep the large tube submerged, it will continue to draw. When there are large chunks, I sometimes have to unclog the connection between the large and small tube, but I've seen some surprisingly large items feed through without a problem.
