Don't fill the spoon all the way as tea swells a lot! I usually fill it 3/4 of the way and have the perfect cup of tea.     I bought this instead of an infuser that didn't have a plunger, because I hoped it would be easier and less messy to use at the office. I can say that I'm glad I went this route, because it is so easy to use at work. Once you squeeze out the excess liquid, you can set it down and although you do get a bit of spillage, it's much less than any other infuser I've used, plus it makes it easier to dump out the used loose tea. My only problem now is that I need to get another one for home use as well.

    First off, I use this for herbal loose-leaf teas, and not black tea. Most of the negative reviews are using black tea. For what I use, the holes in the back are no issue. I only press the plunger about halfway and I am careful not to overfill the hopper.Compared to bagging, this is much easier, and the flavor is stronger. The only thing I noticed is that it does not stay vertical on its own. This may be due to using lower density teas. However, simply stir it a few times and it circulates well.
