This is a first telescope for our family, and I am happy with the ease of assembly and use for my six year old. With help, he is able to adjust the magnification and view the stars! It has sparked his interest in learning more about stars and planets! I also brought this telescope into my school to show my third grader students how a telescope works, and the 8-9 year old group loved it. This would be a wonderful gift for a child ages 6-10.

The kids, as well as the adults, loved to be able to see the precise details on a recent crescent moon, and it was nice to be able to get a closer look at the stars that make up some of the familiar constellations. We also were excited to take a peek at the details of the nest the birds have been building towards the top of one of our trees. The telescope has opened up a world of adventure in our own backyard and we know that we will be bringing the telescope along with us on our future camping trips. I do have to agree with another reviewer that the one downside is not having a case or travel bag to easily tote it along as well as store the extra pieces.

the information that came with this telescope was so helpful and informative. we had no clue that the scope would need to be acclimated to the outside weather for 30 min prior to viewing. we followed instructions and had a clear view of the moon.

Super easy to assemble and has a variety of magnifying lenses. Instructions are self-explanatory and straight forward, so there is no confusion. Lenses are very easy to interchange and secure with a single screw. Great first telescope and an excellent value for the power it contains, especially when you use the enhancing power Barlow lens. Most constellations and the moon seem very close, which is exciting for my kids to view. This keeps them coming back for more! Extra bonus for Mom, it looks great in our central family area.

Such a cool telescope for your stargazing kiddo! It’s perfectly sized for children 6-10 and is completely functional. It required some simple assembly and we were looking at the stars in no time. My 6 year old loves it, and is completely obsessed with planets and stars.

Possibility to see the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter. Only small flaw, it makes a bit of a seismograph because of the rigidity of the plastic parts of the tripod, you have to wait for the end of the vibration to see it well in max magnification. But it's impressive.

Perfect telescope. I hesitated after reading the negative comments but decided to give it a try. Turns out it works very well. I think some people didn't read the instructions carefully. Didn't do their research before buying something.

My son and I were able to easily adjust the eyepieces and see the moon and a few stars. He was excited to spot things right away. I liked the tripod feature, but my 8 year old felt more comfortable holding the telescope to view the sky. We'd love to take this on our next trip up to the mountains where the sky is a lot clearer and there are more stars to look at than in the city.

Let me start by saying that neither myself nor my two children (ages 6 and 9) had ever used a telescope before when we got this. We were all very excited to see what it could do - and we were not disappointed! The instructions were clear and I appreciated that there were pictures to help those of us that are clueless when it comes to telescopes. I was able to easily assemble it within a matter of minutes. We got lucky and had a beautiful full moon the night we set this up. It was below freezing and snowy here in MA so we used it through the window. We were still able to see a nice clear, detailed image of the moon. The directions stress that even the slightest touch will move the image out of frame and they were not kidding. My youngest accidentally bumped it a couple of times after I had it setup but she learned quickly not to touch and it was easy enough to get it back in position. The kids were thrilled with what they could see and we are all looking forward to being able to take it outside in warmer weather. I would definitely recommend this telescope! It was quick and easy to setup, works really well, and is compact and light for storage and moving around.

It's simple, compact and cheap enough that if it gets broken you won't cry over it. Clear enough for lunar observation. Only issue is that it is so light it is hard for kids not to move it off target getting to the eyepiece. They want to touch the telescope and hold it, which bumps it off. Perfect for testing to make sure they are interested enough to stay with it and justify a better, more expensive telescope later on.
