I can use the charger either standing up as a nightstand clock or flat against the table when using it at my desk. The watch fits securing in the magnetic cradle and has no issues charging. The phone pad seems a bit more touchy as a small adjustment left or right can cause it not to charge. Not sure if this is the charger or my phone or its case. However, it does charge when place vertically or horizontally as long as I make sure the status light on the base turns from red to blue, I know it is charging. Overall very happy with this purchase.

This is an absolute fantastic 3-in-one charger. The watch charger is built in and there is no tucking of additional wires through a channel. The wireless charging pad has a huge zone and even through a thick case has been able to charge in multiple positions. If I had a complaint it is that the watch charger is super close to the airpods charger and the watch band can sometimes get caught up when placing it down. Not a big deal overall.
