Before giving it to her, I first tested it myself and after turning it on, I plugged an SD card into it and sure enough, pictures I put onto the card automatically started playing in a slideshow. After giving it to her and showing her how to insert and remove the SD card, she already figured out where to put it. The frame comes with a remote control if any changes to the settings want to be made, but it already works great right out of the box. Nothing complex...just an easy frame to use.
