   It took me a few weeks at first to get used to it. Actually, I only wear one for my left ear. I've lost too much hearing in my right ear for one to help. One complaint I read about before I ordered is that they don't cancel out much background noise. That's true, but it's been worth my while to learn to live with some background noise to be able to hear other things again... like birds singing or what women with high-pitched voices are saying.

   I made the mistake of beginning on the mid-level of volume, and my dog barked next to me and made me jump out of my chair! So, follow the directions and start on the lowest level. Most people with moderate to severe hearing problems will need to bump the volume up (slowly) by two or three notches at least to achieve optimal hearing. One final point: you can eavesdrop on conversations dozens of yards away if your volume is set nearer the top level. I'm not making any suggestions, just stating a fact.

   I have not heard this well in the past 15 years. I will be purchasing a second pair as backups - they are that good. I feel so sorry for the millions of elderly people being ripped off by hearing centers, when these will work for probably 95% of the hearing impaired. I know a woman who just paid $10K for a pair of hearing aids and yet cannot hear as well as I can. Many of my friends are now purchasing these. One warning: please begin on the lowest volume settings, because these amplifiers are especially powerful.

   I can't hear a big difference in the 4 programs; one isn't much different from another, but maybe that's just me. I tried out the expensive hearing aids before ($5000) and couldn't manage to insert them or manage the controls because of some nerve damage in my hands, so I returned them. This hearing aid is easy to set up and use and it's much more affordable ! I'm thrilled with them and so is my family; no more requests to turn down the TV, and no more "what?"

She definitely hears so much more now. I can talk to her in a normal volume without shouting. She catches every word. She can watch TV again without having it blasting. She even hears the dog barking and when someone knocks on our door.

There was another issue with the replacement units, but the service dept got it taken care of very quickly to my satisfaction.
