I was at the pool one day for a short time and ended up with a sunburned scalp. I ordered this hat and it works wonderfully as I haven't been burned again. I can also wear it swimming as it has a tie to hold it on your head and is meant to be wet. You soak the inside of the hat to have it help cooling your head but that part only is good if the humidity is low. When it is high you will want to leave the inside of the hat dry. Love it and wouldn't go without it when in the yard or by the water.
