Purchased this for my 7 year old son and it's a great microscope for beginners. We use he amscope 25 piece specimen set with it and it's great. The only clear magnification we can get is with the 100x. The light at the bottom is extremely bright and hurts your eyes. I added a piece of Kleenex over it to soften it and that helps but this will definitely hurt your eyes if you use it too long.

Really a very nice microscope! Only thing I don't like is there is no storage case for this. It comes in a plain brown cardboard box, encased in styrofoam. I really really wish there was a storage case to put it in. It does come with a dust cover though. It's easy to use and has plenty of features. Well worth the money. Our biology class is going to be far more enjoyable now.

I am not very experienced with microscopes but I was able to help show her how to properly use it. The glass slides can be a bit sharp on the edges so she will need my help in making new slides for some time but I am glad that we are able to discover and learn together. We received some duplicate pre-made slides which was kind of disappointing. The unit is well built and heavy for its size.
